From Customer Operations to Compliance

Andrew Marshall began his BGL journey in our Customer Operations team and has since put down the phones to raise the profile of Compliance in Corporate Services. 

In 2011, I joined BGL Group as a Customer Relations Executive in our Fusion Customer Operations team. Two years later I jumped at the chance to work in Corporate Services for a six month placement which allowed me to build on my regulatory experience and knowledge as well as build relationships within the Corporate Services team. This put me in a great position to move into Corporate Services and when an Executive role came up in January 2013, I was determined to continue furthering my career within BGL Group. 

Since then, I’ve worked hard and my career has grown at an impressive rate – just under two years ago I was offered the opportunity to work in our Regulatory Assurance team as a Monitoring Officer, again within Corporate Services.

I spent a year building on relationships and experiencing steep learning curves, all with exciting opportunities to impress and excel in my area. This experience has led to my gaining a promotion into my current position as Compliance Manager. This involves guiding business units to raise the important of compliance and identifying control risks and issues around the Group.

My career highlights so far would have to be having the chance to work for Fusion Customer Operations before moving to the Head Office - it provided me valuable experience of our Contact Centre’s customer journeys and processes. It also allowed me to experience first-hand the differences between working environments at both Fusion Customer Operations and Head office, and adapt along the way. 

I have been fortunate to have worked in numerous roles in the last 5 years and have so far had the chance to work with so many great people. I’m excited to see where the next five years take me.
