The office gym may still be out of action, but that’s not stopped colleagues at BGL getting in shape this summer.
BGL has launched a two-week summer fitness programme for its 3,000-strong workforce, featuring exercise classes and daily health and wellbeing tips, as well as personalised nutrition plans. The classes, delivered via Microsoft Teams, range from pilates and kettlebells to circuits and high intensity interval training (HIIT) and are led by BGL’s in-house fitness and wellbeing experts, Helen Core and Jason French.
Helen and Jason have been hosting live 30-minute exercise classes two or three times a week since the start of lockdown, while the Group’s on-site facilities at Orton Southgate are closed and the business operates remotely. The Summer Re-energiser combines those live workouts with recipe ideas, plus information on smart food choices, affordable kit, sleep, nutrition and much more via online discussions and drop-in sessions.
Helen said: “Our virtual classes have been really popular. We’ve had fantastic feedback from colleagues who are grateful they can continue to access safe and professional exercise routines from home. As we have been working remotely as a business for over four months now, we wanted to support colleagues to make sure their good intentions continue.
“Our Summer Re-energiser programme not only offers more of our most popular classes, but also the chance for us to provide wellbeing advice tailored to individual needs. In these unusual times, it is more important than ever that we all look after ourselves and, thanks to the excellent collaboration tools we have at BGL, it was simple to host these activities online.”
With over 11 million customers, BGL is a leading digital distributor of insurance and household financial services via brands including comparethemarket.com, Budget Insurance, Dial Direct and Beagle Street.
