Gary completes epic cycle ride
Gary Duggan, Managing Director of BGL Group’s partnerships business, Junction, has completed a mammoth London to Paris cycle ride, raising £2500 for a new health clinic in Zambia.
Day 1 – Gary’s epic fundraiser began in London, where he and his fellow riders cycled over 60 miles from the capital all the way down to the White Cliffs of Dover. From here they caught a ferry across the Channel arriving in Northern France.

Day 2 – a real test of strength and endurance, as Gary and team made their way through the majestic hills of Northern France, to reach their resting point for the evening.

Day 3 – a staggering 170 miles completed by the group, with the opening 25 miles requiring more gruelling uphill cycling. Steady downhill pedalling followed to reach Beauvais, a city on the outskirts of Paris, which signalled a welcome end to the day. The home straight of the journey was now firmly in sight.

Day 4 – after four days of grit, determination, and a lot of hills, Gary and the team arrived at the Eiffel Tower, signalling an end to their epic journey.

Here’s just a few stats from Gary’s epic fundraising attempt:
  • Total miles cycled – 305.
  • 11,000 total elevation gain.
  • Calories burned – 19,000 (wow).
  • Time in the saddle – 20 hours.
  • Average cycle speed – 15 mph.
  • Physical condition: KNACKERED.

Speaking about the trip, Gary said: ‘‘Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored me for this, it’s been an amazing experience that I’ll never forget. Another huge thank you goes to my fellow riders, it would have been a much tougher ride without the continued support from you guys. I am delighted to have raised around £2500, all in aid of a fantastic cause, to support the building of a health clinic in Zambia.’’
