Back in the summer of 2018, BGL Group’s Exec Committee set themselves a gruelling challenge of raising £35,000 by walking Dorset's stunning Jurassic Coast, covering 30 miles of walking in just two days. The challenge formed part of BGL Group’s ambition of donating £3 million to good causes and impacting 250,000 lives by 2020.
The money raised funds the building of a new health clinic in Zambia. The clinic features a specialised maternity unit with delivery and antenatal rooms, sanitation and waiting facilities A desparately needed HIV ward is also being built as part of the facility. The health clinic will support a population of 11,000.
The Group Exec Committee and their team of 50 colleagues from across the UK and Europe took part in the coastal walk in September 2018. The Jurassic Coast walk itself was split across two days involving a certain degree of hard terrain, high ground, open ground, heathland, farmland and forest areas. The group had varying levels of fitness and abilities, making the challenge a tough one.
Over £45,000 was raised thanks to the generosity of BGL colleagues, partners, friends and families.
