We are now on the lookout for a Senior Programme Manager on a 12 month fixed term contract to structure and deliver large, complex and strategically important programmes of work from concept through to the realisation of benefits, whilst also overseeing the running of the Portfolio office.

  You will be comfortable with working with uncertainty and a changing context with an inherent desire to bring structure to challenges.

As Senior Programme Manager you will also:

  • Work with business sponsors to clearly articulate outcomes, shape programmes and influence business cases
  • Lead the definition and planning of the activity to deliver the business case outcomes
  • Design, implement and operate programme governance frameworks and collaborative working practices ensuring that programmes are set up for success and roles and responsibilities are clear
  • Undertake the day-to-day co-ordination of programme tasks and workstreams
  • Proactively monitor and report progress against plans, budgets and benefits; ensuring that outcomes remain aligned to strategic objectives
  • Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies, ensuring timely intervention to resolve or avoid issues
  • Set-up and actively manage third party suppliers against an agreed budget and scope
  • Manage communication across stakeholders and delivery teams ensuring that all have the information they need, and in a format and timeframe that enables effective decision making
  • Provide effective leadership of organisational and cultural change and ensure that benefits realisation
  • Manage the flow of information about status, progress, key blockers and risks through key forums including Investment Board,  BGLi Finance and BGLi  Exco
  • Responsible for portfolio reporting to enable Exco understanding of progress, outcomes and potential challenges
  • Work with change programme owners to ensure that change requests are comprehensively scoped prior to bringing forward to prioritisation forums Work with Finance team to ensure investment approval processes and other costs
  • Oversee prioritisation forum
  • Monitor the deliverability of the change portfolio and inform prioritisation sessions with change owners to ensure that sound and timely prioritisation decisions are made 
  •  Input to strategic and annual planning cycles
  • Ensure that SEP and commercial change items are properly scoped with accurate business cases and that reporting is clear and that benefits remain valid
  • Manage and develop a small team of Programme and Portfolio Execs

  • Strong experience of project/programme management methodologies
  • Exceptional ability to translate loosely defined strategic intent into delivery
  • Prioritisation of relationships to gain the trust and support of stakeholders of all levels
  • Excellence at synthesising large amounts of information, extracting key messages and communicating effectively to all levels
  • Drives action and challenges constructively without losing trust and support
  • Proven ability to lead organisational change
  • Broad understanding of business, supported by ability to drop down into subject matter areas to fill knowledge gaps
  • Highly commercial
  • Ability to set up and manage third party delivery
  • Experience of acquisition and integration
