The BGL’s Group HR  Team have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Employee Relations (ER) Consultant. As an Employee Relations Consultant you will provide ER expertise to line managers and colleagues, providing advice on a diverse caseload to include disciplinaries, grievances, capabilities, sickness absences and flexible working. Dealing with complex and often sensitive issues, this position offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference within a forward-thinking company.


As part of the Employee Relations team you will develop and maintain a solid understanding of the business to enable you to provide commercially focused guidance to colleagues across the group. You will support the development of line managers throughout BGL on ER related subjects and act as a subject matter expert whilst remaining approachable and professional at all times. Part of this service will involve providing confidential advice on performance issues as well as and change programmes to enable informed decision making.


As a Senior ER Consultant you will manage an individual caseload from commencement to conclusion of ER related activities to generate commercial outcomes in line with our BGL values and behaviours. With each case you will assess the case to the business and suggest recommendations based on your findings. Throughout all investigations you will need to provide clear audit trails and case files to the required standard, documenting all activities and actions taken. Throughout this process you will need to demonstrate continuous improvement and suggests changes where suitable.  As part of the senior role, you will manage a small team.


Part of this role will include involvement and support in senior level complex cases, working with stakeholders throughout the business to understand the impact of your decision making. Throughout the workload you will manage complex change programmes. Where appropriate you will manage and support hearings on all case types.


Although a Senior ER Consultant would be desirable, we would also consider candidates who are looking for a less senior role with Employee Relations.



What will it take?

§  Extensive experience with ER cases gained through complex case with emphasis on senior employees

§  Strong stakeholder management skills

§  Excellent communication, influencing & customer service skills

§  Excellent Employment Law knowledge

§  Previous experience in leading change projects and TUPE

§  Experience leading a small team in a HR environment (desirable)

§  CIPD Qualified or an equivalent qualification (desirable)

§  Experience of a regulatory environment (desirable)
