What’s the challenge?

Our technology function continues to grow and adapt to support a business that has developed from a handful of employees to over 700 during the past few years and are now looking at adding a high calibre Security Architect who is a subject matter expert in the field of cloud, data and information security architecture. 

This role will help define the technology security landscape of and help deliver the data and information security strategy across the business. As we develop our next generation of customer focused services and propositions, security of our data will rely on high quality technical solutions that implement our security policies and ensure we are recognised as the most trusted brand for our customers personal information.

Combining your expertise with exceptional stakeholder management, you will partner with our CISO and engineering functions in driving through the principles and standards that will transform the security landscape and build the platform that delivers our next customer outcomes.

Engaging with engineering teams that make quick decisions and operate at pace will stimulate you, and you’ll be comfortable enabling them to deliver results, whilst always having a view on the scalability, resilience and governance of our solutions. 

What will it take to be successful as the Security Architect?

As an experienced Security Architect, you will have a strong cyber, data and information security background, with the ability to express your ideas with clarity, self-assurance and logical reasoning. 

To make a real impact in this role, you will be able to demonstrate: 

  • Accountability for security technical designs across an organisation 

  • Translation of security policies into practical steps that engineering teams can implement in a cloud first environment 

  • Experience of increasing the security posture of an organisation as measured against a standard industry framework 

  • Providing direction, advice and guidance on the appropriate approach to engineering security solutions across a diverse and distributed technology landscape 

  • Experience of assessing new and emerging security technologies and developments in industry standards  

  • Contributing to the definition and maintenance of security standards for the technology function 

  • Awareness and experience of managing technology change through governance processes 

  • A full appreciation of managing security risks across an organisation 

Key Skills 


  • Designing technical security solutions that meet complex requirements across a cloud first environment 

  • In depth experience of software engineering and implementing security standards within engineering teams 

  • Strong technical skills working across multiple patterns, domains, languages and persistence mechanisms in a distributed environment 

  • Clear comprehension of industry frameworks such as NIST, ISO27001 etc.  

  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills; good verbal and written communication; self-motivated and self-starter; management of complex stakeholder relationships. 


  • Certifications such as CISSP/CSSP/CCSK  

  • Advocate of lean principles through appropriate governance and standards. 

  • Experience of introducing, promoting and encouraging security excellence and innovation throughout a distributed set of teams
