At BGL Group (Home of Compare The Market), we have on offer a strategic role that will suit an experienced senior technology leader seeking visibility at both an Exec and team level. You’ll take ownership of a Community of Practice (CoP) for Quality Engineering and join the senior technical leadership team in driving change. Together you’ll inspire and influence the development and delivery of continuous improvement for people, practices, and processes across a ~250 strong business technology department, servicing 10 million customers on behalf of our key commercial and partnership brands. 

As a change agent and leader in technology, you’ll:

  • Inspire the Quality, Agile, Software Engineering and Business Analyst practices adopted across the department with each of our Community of Practice Leads
  • Shape the vision and direction for the Quality practice function
  • Accountable for developing and driving the continuous improvement of our people, processes and practices
  • Provide and share expertise in technical and quality processes and practices
  • Pro-actively drive and influence practices and ways of working across the department. Work with a high level of autonomy and self-direction. Support, coach and mentor direct reports and members of the department at various levels of seniority
  • Collaborate with a large number of technical delivery teams and a wide network of stakeholders to drive continuous improvement

What will it take to be successful as a Quality Practice Lead?


As an accomplished senior leader, you’ll likely be:

  • Accustomed to engaging at a local level, and representing your division at Executive steering forums which are attended by Divisional leads and/or Group Execs
  • A confident speaker who can engage different audiences effectively. You’re well versed in stakeholder and relationship management skills
  • You know how to cast a vision and influence buy-in from your audience to achieve a desired outcome
  • Known for delivery and continuous improvement that have achieved commercial impact
  • Effective coach, mentor and people manager that has driven high performing standards and deliverables

Your technical capability:

  • Strong knowledge and experience of Software Engineering, Testing and Quality specialisms
  • Hands on experience within the SDLC (no coding experience required) and strong Agile software working practices
