As part of our tech team based between Peterborough & Sunderland, we’re looking for a Software Engineer specialising in Integration development. You’ll deliver first class customer propositions to some of the UK’s most iconic brands and businesses. Our role is ideal if you’re seeking an opportunity to solve technical business challenges that have a clear business impact, whilst helping software engineering leads to coach and mentor your engineering peers around best practice and technical delivery.

Your responsibilities:

  • Developing first class integration solutions in an Agile delivery team under the leadership of the Development/Technical Lead, guided by Product Owners
  • Solving complex problems and issues
  • Champion simplicity. Contributing to the evolving culture of innovation, enthusiasm and passion
  • Understand how our customers interact with our product
  • Focus on delivery for the benefit of the customer
  • Coach and mentor other engineers within the team
  • Collaborate within a full stack delivery team

What will it take to be successful as an Integration Software Engineer at BGL Tech?

Technical must have:

  • Shown skills and experience in Java, Spring and enterprise integration pattern
  • Demonstrate an understanding of SOA patterns and ESB architecture. Knowledge of Mule ESB desirable
  • Demonstrate an understanding of messaging and queues
  • Use Web technologies including REST/JSON and definitions such as Swagger and RAML as well as XML, XSLT and XML Schemas
  • Use industry standard build and test frameworks such as Maven and jUnit
  • Use version control systems and workflow (e.g. Git, BitBucket)
Supporting soft skills:
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple work streams
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Great communication and attention to detail
  • Familiar with coaching and mentoring others and providing guidance in times of ambiguity
