BGL’s HR department have a fantastic opportunity for a HR Policy Consultant to join their team on a 22.5 hrs/week maternity contract. Within this role you will work to support the Policy Review Committee to create, amend and review all current and future HR policies, ensuring that each policy review is successfully embedded and ensuring that they are in line with our company values.


As a HR Policy Consultant you will develop and refresh engaging HR policies that reflect the direction and values of BGL, identifying and exploring new opportunities to standardise and simplify policies and procedures. As the main point of contact for advice on each policy you will assist colleagues and stakeholders in understanding complex areas whilst providing ongoing knowledge of development within employment law.


Time management is key within this role and you will be responsible for maintaining and delivering the policy review timetable. You will proactively schedule time with key stakeholders across the business to raise awareness of each policy and gain valuable insight into their opinion, interpretation and feedback on individual policies. You will need the ability to influence and communicate at all levels within BGL. Once changes are implemented you will manage the embedding period within the business, liaise with contacts and ensure relevant correspondence is sent out to everyone affected by the policy change.


As a recognised subject matter expert in HR policy creation, you will provide guidance on procedures for the wider HR team and business to follow. You will also work on an ad hoc basis with the Employee Relations (ER) team to assist with various ER cases where needed. This position would suit someone who is interested in Human Resources and has a passion for implementing change. A keen eye for detail will be needed when documenting each change and you will thrive in a project led environment.
