Data Scientist - Job description

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist who has considerable experience in automation and productionisation of data science products; machine learning implementations, predictive models and real time pattern/trigger based actioning. Big Data technologies, such as Apache Spark, is a must, as is architecture knowledge in AWS environments.  Awareness about the current / future state of Data Science technologies and machine learning techniques will be preferred.

The role

As a Data Scientist you will help develop and support market leading business intelligence solutions in an agile product team that gives comparethemarket.com a competitive advantage in our wide range of products.

By mentoring other team members and championing big data technologies and techniques you’ll contribute to the team’s evolving culture of experience, innovation, enthusiasm and passion and also play a key role in designing the architecture of the projects the team embarks on.

You will ensure development and delivery is of the highest quality. That it’s on time and budget; that team standards are being evolved and increased.  You’ll manage and take responsibility for the continuous delivery environment of projects and be responsible for technical problem solving.

What will it take?

As a highly skilled, professional and confident Data Scientist, you’ll have excellent analytical and problem solving skills. You will have a strong analytical and Data Manipulation (XML, JSON) background. You will be an Expert at big data ETL using Spark. When we meet, you’ll be able to demonstrate your experience in:

  •          Understanding of Python or R
  •         NoSQL
  •         Big Data schema design
  •         Using and defining automated tests to verify that loads and transformations work as intended
  •         Confidence and experience working in agile teams
  •        Excellent communication skills
