We’re looking to appoint an Associate Director Product and Capacity to develop and deliver the product strategy for BGL Life.  This is a new role with the Associate Director being a key member of the BGL Life Executive team.  You will be responsible for the management and development of our life insurance products (currently including term, critical illness and whole of life), which trade under the Beagle Street, Budget, Fifty Life and Virgin Money brands and are distributed direct to our consumers and sold via price comparison sites.  

We’re looking for somebody with extensive knowledge of the Life Insurance market, and who will actively stay abreast of customer, competitor, technology and regulatory developments in the Life Insurance and adjacent sectors, in the UK and internationally.

Your core responsibilities include managing our products to deliver great customer experiences and outcomes and exceed our commercial objectives. A key part of this will be to manage and develop relationships with insurers, reinsurers and players in the value chain that are critical to the delivery of our products. As well as being an exceptional relationship builder, you’ll also be highly analytical and able to identify innovative new ways to leverage data to create value within these relationships.

More broadly, you will contribute to the development of the BGL Life strategy and the delivery of our transformation, trading and people plans.  Reporting directly into the Managing Director, you will work alongside the BGL Life leadership team to lead and drive competitive capability.

What will it take?
Significant partnership development and management experience.
Demonstrable product management experience.
Significant experience and understanding of the life insurance sector.
A desire to work within a growing and entrepreneurial company.
A demonstrable track record of delivery against challenging objectives.
Strategic thinker with strong execution skills.
Experience of developing effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels across the Group.
Ability to engage across a senior stakeholder population on a range of subjects (e.g. operations, financial performance and people matters).
Excellent leadership and people management skills.
Experience of working in or with Insurtech/Fintech or other digitally focussed, challenger propositions.

The aim of BGL Life is to make Life Insurance simple and more accessible to everyone in the UK. is the primary brand which was founded in 2012 to take advantage of the growing shift in consumer behaviour to purchase insurance online. In addition to, BGL Life also operates with their Budget Life, 50Life (for the over 50s) brands, and a white label affinity partnership was set up last year with Virgin Money. 
With its slick online process and “no middle men” approach, Beagle Street disrupted the traditional life insurance market by prioritising simplicity and ease of purchase. Its customers don’t undergo a medical but instead answer a brief series of questions designed to establish their health, keeping costs down and allowing many to secure cover in less than 10 minutes. Further features which separate Beagle Street from other life insurance providers include the fact that it actively searches official records to ensure that claims are paid out, whether or not it receives notification from a loved one that a policyholder has died.
