What is the challenge?

As the Application Architect for our Cloud Platform Delivery team, you will assume a senior role guiding, mentoring and coaching delivery teams of cloud platform engineers, technical leads, business analysts and Quality Analysts. You will be an integral point of contact with Application Architects in all of our product teams, our data engineering team and also our Tech teams. Your technical knowledge and architectural experience will enable you to define the team’s roadmap and architecture, collaborate across the business to solve complex problems, create direction and ensure the target architecture is achieved.

You will be supporting the Cloud Platforms teams to build highly scalable, highly available services. As we move towards rolling out and embedding DevOps as a culture across tech teams and inner sourcing, you will play a big part in overseeing and supporting the teams to make this happen.

As the Application Architect working with multiple cloud platform teams in three locations, you will be comfortable using technology to communicate clear ideas and plans, and have an ability to ensure the team deliver against these. Of course, a willingness to travel from time to time to meet the teams will also enable you to succeed in this role.

Working with 350+ engineers in a company that champions Pair Programming, innovation days and a challenge culture, as well as multiple Cloud Platform technologies including AWS, Kubernetes and a plethora of tools and technologies such as Docker, .NET Core, NodeJs, MongoDB and more – this will be a great opportunity to learn and grow your career.

What will it take to be successful?

As an experienced Tech Lead or Architect, you will be able to demonstrate involvement in the delivery of applications that underpin business or consumer facing products, and the part you played in improving the quality.

Also, you will be able to show:
  • Experience of defining product architecture
  • A background of mentoring and coaching technical colleagues
  • experience working with multiple patterns, domains, languages and persistence mechanisms as well as distributed systems
  • That you are an active learner, keeping up to date with developments, concepts and technologies
  • Passion about lean principles, keen to code and perform research and development into new technologies
  • A structured approach to governance and standards and eager to further technical excellence at
  • An awareness of security practices and how they apply in a high transaction environment
