Committed to delivering our charity projects

Our strategic partnerships are set up to encourage education, entrepreneurship and empowerment. We work with four charities in the UK, local to our offices in Peterborough, Sunderland, Wakefield, and London; one in Paris; and one focused on communities in Zambia.

Our work in Zambia

While our Zambia projects provide much-needed health and education facilities for the community, they also work in partnership with the community to provide skills training and work experience to young men and women to help them earn a living and provide for their families.

Each project takes a number of trainees from the local area, with no previous experience, and teaches them about construction.

We're proud to support Build It International

BGL Group has worked in partnership with Build It International for a number of years, creating opportunities for young people and their communities in Zambia through skills training, work experience and essential community building projects.

We've completed four community building projects with Build It International and a fifth is in progress. We have contributed more than £750,000 in recent years and each time a group of colleagues has fundraised to travel to Zambia to see how our support has made a difference to the local community and thousands of children’s lives.

Our Zambia volunteers' experiences

This experience is something I'll never forget

What struck me most of all during my time in Zambia was how enthusiastic the children are about their education and how much they appreciate the little things in life, which we’re probably all guilty of taking for granted from time to time. My trip to Zambia has made me so grateful for everything I have in life.

Meg Harrington, Marketing Planning Manager

Privileged to be a part of such a great cause

Zambia 2017 was an absolute life changer for me as it showed me that back home we take so much for granted. Meeting the Zambian community and helping them to move forward was something I genuinely felt privileged to be a part of. Big thanks to BGL for its continued participation on this project; long may it continue.

Gareth Simpson, Desktop Service Manager

The experience genuinely changed my life for the better

It’s too easy to focus on the things in life we don’t have, and we often take things for granted. From my first day in Zambia it was clear that the community didn’t have a lot and that the health centre that our fundraising helped build was already saving lives on a daily basis. I expected to see the locals looking saddened by the situation they were in, but it was the complete opposite.

BGL's regional charity partners

As part of our Community programme we have launched the BGL Make a Difference Fund, an additional £160,000 funding pot distributed between our five key sites in Sunderland, Wakefield, Peterborough, London and Paris.

All five sites will select a partner charity to support with Make a Difference funding and volunteering for a key project or initiative to be delivered over the next two years.
