Under the auspices of the CSR programme, we undertake a number of measures to manage the Group's environmental impact.

This page provides details of the current measures in place and recommendations to further improve our position, highlighting the steps needed to ready ourselves to report on greenhouse gases using recognised intensity ratios against direct and indirect emissions.

  • Groupwide - an energy campaign was delivered, via the Group Intranet, to encourage all staff to turn off lights and computers when leaving the office.
  • Fusion House - lighting was replaced with LED lights in the restaurant.
  • Fusion House - external car park high-pressure sodium lights have been replaced with LED lighting.
  • Fusion House - fluorescent lighting has been replaced with more energy efficient lighting.
  • Fusion House - both boilers at Chapter House and at Fusion House were replaced in 2014
  • Pegasus House - a Trend BMS installed
  • Pegasus House - new chillers were installed in 2012, estimated to reduce future energy consumption by 20%
  • Pegasus House - the roof of the whole building was replaced in 2014
  • Pegasus House - lighting in the canteen area and atrium has been changed to LED in 2014.
  • Pegasus House - new high efficiency hot water boilers have been installed
  • Pegasus House - aligned heating and cooling operating times to business hours, saving £3k p.a.
  • Saxon House - the building was constructed under BGL’s supervision and is BREEAM rated
  • Saxon House - energy efficient lighting.
  • Saxon House - use of a TREND BMS system.
  • Saxon House - sub-metering of key energy users across the building.
  • The introduction of secure pull print has greatly reduced the consumption of paper and printing consumables.
  • Implementing secure charging bays to encourage the use of electirc cars amongst our employees
  • Reducing CO2 emissions by introducing and championing the BGL Cycle to Work scheme.   
  • Removal of vending machines and kettles alongside the introduction of hydro taps
  • Commision of Utility Consultants to advise on ways we can manage our energy and reduce on our carbon footprint
