Tom Parkin

Technology Graduate
My name is Tom I'm a Tech Grad who recently graduated from Sheffield Hallam University. My degree is Computer and Network Engineering. My hometown is Hinckley which is in Leicestershire. When I was younger I was a Corporal in the Air Training Corp where I obtained my Silver Gliding wings which allowed me to fly solo. In my spare time I like to play Airsoft, go to the gym and spend time with family. In the past I played rugby and more recently squash along with golf.

During my industrial year placement, I worked for GE Aviation as an IT Intern specifically as part of the ERP team. I was also involved with a range of site improvement projects from providing IT training for users, deploying new technology to the shop floor. Working for GE gave me exposure to a range of business units and allowed me to work with upcoming technology. Having a university placement gave me a solid foundation to build on to enhance and learn new skills to set me up for long time employment

For my first rotation I am working for the Beagle Street IT team focused primarily on software development. I also get involved with graduate projects such as Million makers and tech specific ones.
The reason I joined BGL was for opportunity to work with a technology focused company. I am most enjoying learning something new every day and working with people who are experts in their field. If you have a good sense of humour you will fit in well. Since joining, the company has been very supportive providing the graduates with regular workshops, training sessions and ongoing feedback to develop professionally.
