Born and raised in a little village called Auckley in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, I spent my youth playing rugby for my school, local town and county team. Outside of rugby, I enjoy watching and playing football, any activity outdoors and clay pigeon shooting. Following a passion in school in what was known then as ICT, I decided to pursue the interest and study Computer Forensics at Sheffield Hallam University. I loved every second of my time in Sheffield, the nature of my degree, the ability to venture into the peaks at any time and the true Northern spirit always on display in Sheffield made my time there one to remember.
During University, I completed an industrial placement year at Volkswagen UK head office, where I acted as a business analyst. During my placement year, I worked on a flagship project, where being from a technical background, gave me insight into how organisations can really utilise and innovate in technology. On returning to University and achieving a first class honours degree in Computer Forensics, I decided to pursue a career where I could professionally develop with innovative technologies – which is a large reason I am happy to be part of BGL Group.
My time at BGL Group so far has been within the Life team at Compare the Market. It has been an incredible experience so far, the team, the culture and the technologies I have worked with in just three months has been second to none.
Outside of work, I really enjoy extreme sports and trying new things. During my travels in 2012, I decided to try and conquer my fear of heights by completing the world’s largest freefall bungee and rope swing in Nepal. I can safely say it was a ridiculous idea, and I’d give the advice to tell your loved ones a long time afterwards.
