I've learnt so much thanks to the apprenticeship
I found out about the BGL Apprenticeship Scheme through my school. I was in my last year of Sixth Form when my tutor informed my class about an apprenticeship opportunity at BGL and I decided to apply. I've now been a part of BGL since September 2014.

I currently work in the digital delivery team within Business Technology. I’m a Digital Transformation Executive and I love it. This was where I worked my final placement during the apprenticeship before successfully securing a permanent position within the team.

Initially, I liked BGL because it seemed like a friendly, fun place to work. I was also intrigued by the Pathway apprenticeship as it seemed the perfect way to gain as much experience as possible within an organisation full of opportunities for me to develop and grow as an individual.

I’ve learnt so much thanks to the apprenticeship programme. Fresh out of school, I soon found it really important to ask questions and to get involved “hands on” because that is the best way to learn. I found that I didn’t always thoroughly enjoy every placement, but that only helped me – it showed me what role I would eventually want to focus on.

Completing The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualification has probably been my biggest achievement so far.

Prepare to work hard and be open to change. Resilience is a key skill to have and one you will definitely develop over time.
