Our programmes

We have a variety of apprenticeships at different levels. We look for individuals with plenty of drive and self-motivation who can bring a new perspective and fresh way of thinking to our business.

We've engaged with quality training providers that share our corporate values to ensure a consistent learner experience, mixing online learning, classroom study and practical real life experiences.

Our Foundation Programme is recognised as the first level of apprenticeships, also known as a Level 2. Minimum entry requirements for these apprenticeship types include GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
Our Advanced Programme incorporates Level 3 to Level 5 and can last between 18 - 24 months. Entry requirements include a minimum of five GCSEs at grades A*-C, or equivalent, and A levels (scheme dependent).
A great alternative to going to university, our Higher Programme Apprenticeships are designed to develop your skills and qualifications to the highest standard. Entry requirements will vary, but usually those who have already completed an Advanced Apprenticeship or have a minimum of two A-levels will be eligible.

Our apprenticeships

Whether you join our apprenticeship programme straight from school or after early work experience, you’ll develop your skills and career at the heart of the action. You’ll enjoy lots of training and support and the opportunity to impact the success of a leading business.

Our apprenticeships are an excellent way of acquiring new skills and capabilities. Some are longer than others and some are more specialised. But no matter which one you choose, we’ll prepare you for a long and exciting career with us.

Apprenticeship Standards were introduced by the Government to improve the quality of apprenticeships on offer in England. They are gradually replacing all previously created frameworks.

BGL offers high quality approved apprenticeship programmes that are relevant to the roles across our business. All of the programmes we offer are outlined in the academy pages.

During your apprenticeship you will be asked to record your progress and evidence development through your training provider's online platform. This is essential, so that you can demonstrate completion of the necessary 20% 'off-the-job' learning during your apprenticeship. This level of recording shows that you are acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to show competence.

On the training provider's platform you'll also be able to access online learning, relevant documents, attend virtual classrooms and schedule any face-to-face training.

Your line manager will review your progress as part of our dedicated 1-1 processes and will support you in regular formal assessment meetings with your training provider.

Legislation states that someone can undertake an apprenticeship as long as:

•    they are working towards an approved apprenticeship framework or standard
•    they are studying with an accredited training provider
•    their training lasts for at least 12 months
•    they will spend at least 20% of their time training off-the-job
•    the content of their training is materially different from any prior qualification or a previous apprenticeship

All BGL Apprenticeship schemes meet these criteria.
