BGL Group selected as company to watch in The Sunday Times PricewaterhouseCoopers' Profit Track 100
Immediate release: 23 April 2007
The BGL Group, one of the UK's leading insurance intermediaries, has been identified as one of 10 companies to watch alongside the annual league table of Britain's 100 private companies with the fastest growing sustained profits over a three-year period. Already a major player within insurance, this is a significant accolade, comparing the Group with all private companies nationally, whatever the industry.
The 100 companies in The Sunday Times PricewaterhouseCoopers' Profit Track 100 league table, now in its eighth year, have achieved exceptional profit growth, which on average, every year for three years, ranges from 147 per cent at the top of the table to 43 per cent for the 100th ranked.
The BGL Group has capitalised on the explosion of internet-driven personal lines insurance sales and for the year ending June 2006 recorded pre-tax profits of £22.2m, up 85 per cent on the previous year. The company currently employs 2000 staff, and has created over a thousand jobs in the past three years.
Peter Winslow, Chief Executive, BGL Group, said: "It is a magnificent achievement for the BGL Group to have been highlighted as one of the fastest growing private companies to watch. On our current rate of progress we are well on the way to entering the full league table next year. Each of BGL Group's six trading divisions* has contributed to this success, sustaining our rate of growth both in profit and size."
