Press Release

Santas Stepping Out In Aid Of Grace House In Sunderland

Immediate release: 18 December 2008

Fusion employees have been doing their bit to help raise even more funds for Grace House – a project to build a new children's hospice to create a home from home for terminally ill children.

Head of Site Jason Turner and a team of managers and advisors will each be dressing up as Santas to walk the route around Sunderland Enterprise Park to the nearby charity headquarters on Friday (December 19). They will be braving the cold for the sponsored walkabout, collecting any donations en route and are hoping to raise around £500 for the registered charity.

The Santas include Senior Managers Lisa Tilmouth and Sarah Burns, HR Manager Joanna Barnard, Managers Alison Quinn, Brian Bailey, Gail Manghan, Helen Morgan and Tony Barrett and Training Manager Dave Noble and Team Assistant Karen Williams.

This is a continuation of their efforts for the North East Children's Hospice Grace House Appeal which helps provide respite care for around 1,000 terminally ill children in the region.

Last week four members of staff also went along to the charity to help blow up balloons for its Celebration of Life Event at Seaburn. The volunteers helped inflate balloons which had twinkling lights inside and were released into the skies in return for a donation to the Celebration of Life. The idea was to dedicate the balloons to the memory of some of the youngsters who have now passed away.

Fusion Sunderland's GIVE committee - which is allocated £400 each month to donate to a worthy cause – has long been a regular supporter of the North East Children's Hospice Grace House Appeal.

Head of Site Jason Turner said: "We are really pleased to be able to support such a worthy cause. The service provided by this charity is invaluable to families who are struggling to come to terms with terminal illness of their child. A purpose-built hospice will be able to provide an extra safe haven for these families. We are pleased to be able to help support this charity in our own neighbourhood."
