Polaris Takes Off at BGL
Immediate release: 12 March 2008
The BGL Group, the UK's largest independent personal lines insurance intermediary, has boosted its customer quote capability by installing an industry standard underwriting and rating engine, Polaris ProductWriter.
BGL currently has more than two million customers covering Group brands such as Budget, Dial Direct, Bennetts and ibuyeco. Through its affinity business, Junction, BGL also administers insurance schemes on behalf of a number of partners including M&S Money, the Post Office® and Bradford and Bingley.
"Junction has an extremely full pipeline and our aggregator, Comparethemarket.com, is generating significant quote volumes now, a figure which will grow dramatically over the coming months," said Will Price, Director of Group Product Development for BGL.
"Polaris ProductWriter will not only enable us to calculate customer quotes more quickly, it will also pave the way for us to partner with more insurers, more efficiently."
The first new schemes are live on Polaris and BGL will be transferring all existing schemes over the coming months.
Martin McLachlan, Managing Director Polaris UK added: "BGL undertook a year long, in-depth analysis of the capabilities of the Polaris rating engine in high performance environments and contacted several of our users to understand their experiences.
"We are delighted that after this thorough evaluation process they have chosen to use our software. Polaris minimises transaction costs by removing duplication in the way insurance schemes are specified and BGL can now take advantage of this cost-effective technology. We fully expect them to be a demanding client given their reputation as an innovator in the broking market."
