Ibuyeco wins at UK Broker Awards 2008

Director David Lundholm and Senior Marketing Manager Lucy Bailey were presented with the award at the prestigious ceremony hosted by Insurance Age Magazine at The Brewery in London, attended by more than 200 insurance industry leaders.

The awards are a key event in the insurance industry calendar, recognising excellence, achievements and innovation within the industry. For the Personal Lines Initiative, the judges were looking for evidence of innovative and new ideas in the personal lines sector to effectively address special needs in the marketplace.

ibuyeco is just 18 months old but already an established brand. It was the product of an unusual and innovative journey. The concept for the carbon-neutral car insurance product was born in Autumn 2006. Backed by leading personal lines insurance intermediary, the BGL Group, the idea for ibuyeco came from an internal 'Dragons' Den' exercise at the Group's senior management conference. It launched just a few months later in April 2007.

Director David Lundholm said: "It is fantastic to win this award and indeed is testament to the hard work of the ibuyeco team, support areas and Fusion contact centre advisors working for the ibuyeco brand. In the first year of operation more than 50,000 customers have taken our great value insurance and offset more than 100,000 tonnes of their CO2 emissions – that's equivalent to the carbon footprint of Scarborough".
