Fusion Fundraisers Complete The Coast-to-Coast

Immediate release: 18 December 2008

Intrepid cyclists from Peterlee Fusion have completed the gruelling Coast-to-Coast Challenge in aid of Zoe's Place.

Team leader Steve Parkin and advisors Martin Hall and Allison Coyles braved the rain, hail and wind over three days to raise £443.50 which will be match-funded by Fusion's parent company BGL Group, bringing the grand total of £887 for the much-deserving charity.

The Coast-to-Coast from Whitehaven to Seaburn is around 150 miles and the trio originally wanted to do it as a personal challenge but had the idea to raise funds for charity at the same time.

Jo Burey, HR Officer at Peterlee Fusion said: "They did really well. The weather was really bad for the whole three days but they were determined to complete it – all in the name of charity. We're really proud of their efforts."

Based in Stockton, Zoe's Place is a hospice for children and babies who are terminally ill or suffer from life limiting illnesses and they provide extensive support to families.

Chief Executive of Zoe's Place Mark Guidery said: "The support from the team at Fusion is just fantastic and very much appreciated by everyone here at Zoe's Place. As the economic downturn starts to impact on good causes a donation such as this makes us all realise how lucky we are to have such good friends in our community."
