Fusion donates £750 to local charities

Immediate release: 24 October 2008

Employees at the Fusion Contact Centre in Peterlee have donated a generous £750 to three local charities this month.

Fusion, which has contact centre sites in both Sunderland and Peterlee, has a dedicated charity GIVE committee which is allocated a sum of £400 each month to donate to local worthy causes. The GIVE committee representatives chose to divide the funds gathered over the Autumn between three different charities, each with a social care element.

Fusion presented the charities with cheques for £250 on October 21, 2008. The charities were:

  • The Biddick Hall Friendly Society - which provides a service for those aged 18 and over who are disabled, isolated or lonely. They are currently looking to raise money to enable them to take clients out on various day trips and the money donated by Fusion will be put towards achieving this.
  • The Charles Young Centre - which is currently trying to raise money to purchase a new coach with wheelchair space so they can transport their clients. The day centre is for the elderly and provides a social environment where the visitors can have lunch and socialise.
  • And finally the Blackhall Alzheimer's Day Centre - they provide social stimulation and personal care for adults with varying degrees of dementia. The much-need donation from Fusion will be put towards the refurbishment of the bathroom that is used to support the clients who visit on a daily basis.

GIVE committee Chairman Jo Burey said: "We are really pleased to be able to give these donations to local causes. We have chosen these three specific charities as they are doing a great job to look after those in our community that may be vulnerable to feeling lonely or isolated and we want them to be able to continue their invaluable services. They provide a provision that many of our employees or employees' relatives may currently or one-day need to access and it is important that Fusion gets involved in supporting its local area."
