Daredevil Kyla raises £1,000 for charity

Immediate release: 01 July 2009

Fusion Contact Centre Services customer relations administrator Kyla Whammond has turned daredevil to bungee jump from 160 ft to raise more than £1,000 for the Indi Nursery Project.

Kyla (24) has been with Fusion at the call centre in Bretton, Peterborough, for just over two years. It is the call centre division of major local employer BGL Group which is one of the UK's largest privately-owned personal lines insurance intermediaries.

She was one of seven people to take part in the Midlands Bungee Jump at the Mallory Park Motor Racing Circuit in Leicestershire. She raised £511 in sponsorship herself and received a £500 donation from BGL Group's charity fund which supports individuals' fundraising activities for good causes.

The Indi Nursery Project promotes education, health and nutrition for orphaned and disadvantaged children in Kenya. It promotes community involvement in Kenya, as well as from groups and schools in the UK. It encourages children to respect and value others in a multi-faith setting, while developing an international ethos linked to the educational curriculum in UK schools. It develops good citizenship and gives opportunities for Kenyan children to enjoy their childhood away from the, often harsh, realities of their life also giving hope for their future, through education.

South African-born Kyla was inspired to help the charity as it relies entirely on fundraising and it is a charity close to her heart to help give orphaned children in Africa a better way of life. She said: "I loved doing the bungee jump for such a good cause – I'd do it again tomorrow!"
