BGL Group's South Regional Community Team has donated more than £7,000 to a number of major local charities
Immediate release: 31 October 2009
BGL Group is one of the largest personal lines insurance intermediaries and has made the latest donations as part of the company's pledge to give £1million to community, environmental and other charities up until 2012.
-
They gave £2,500 to the Rainbow Ripples which is a charity set up at the Myton Hospice in Coventry, to help youngsters who have lost their parents through a terminal illness.
This donation will help fund a trip to take the youngsters to see Disney on Ice in Nottingham, in November, and also to fund future weekend workshops which are held three times a year to bring the children together to unite them in their grief.
Dawn Nevin of Rainbow Ripples said: "We offer support on a one-to-one basis to these children and really couldn't provide this vital service without the generous support of companies such as yours. We are very grateful indeed."

They gave £2,000 to the Peterborough-based Unity Superstars which is the country's first-ever competitive cheerleading squad for young people with special needs in a range of learning, sensory or physical disabilities.
This donation will help pay for two places for the 13-strong squad in their bid to compete at the World event in Orlando in April 2010.

A further £1,500 was donated to Family Action which is a national charity providing financial, emotional and practical support based at the St Barnabas Community Centre in Peterborough.
The money will be used to buy Christmas gifts for 30 children at the centre this year.
And £1,000 was given to Emmaus which is a national charity with a centre in Coventry. Emmaus offers homeless people a home, employment opportunities and the chance to rebuild their lives in a supportive environment. There are currently 19 communities in the UK and several more in development.
The donation will help buy some desperately-needed IT equipment to help teach these people a new skill in order to aid their chances of finding future employment.
