BGL Group Raises in Excess of £3,500 for Children In Need
Immediate release: 14 November 2008
Employees at the BGL Group raised an outstanding £3,683 for the national Children in Need Day 2008.
Employees from the Peterborough-based BGL Group's head office and IT department joined forces with the Fusion Contact Centre Services sites in Coventry, Bretton, Peterlee and Sunderland, to help make a difference to the national charity.
There was a whole host of activities co-ordinated across the Group's sites on the day, which proved to be a massive hit. There were firm fundraising favorites such as a home-made cake trolley, various quizzes, a secondhand book stall, a sponsored silence and a grand raffle - which alone generated £1,120. There were some fantastic prizes up for grabs in the auctions ranging from a pair of designer shoes to much sought-after football tickets for West Bromwich Albion v Chelsea. And finally, an in-house charity calendar was produced featuring various employees from Fusion. The day was a massive success with everyone really getting into the fundraising spirit.
Group Chief Executive Peter Winslow said: "This is really impressive. Our employees are very committed to fundraising and really pulled out all the stops for Children in Need."
"We are really pleased with the amount of money we managed to raise for this year. Everyone had an enjoyable day and proved how creative they could be by coming up with some truly exciting ways to generate funds. Managing to raise in excess of £3,500 in one day in addition to the money we have already raised this year for our corporate charity, the NSPCC, is a true testament to the generous and dedicated nature of our employees."
Children In Need is a charity that aims to positively change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. They provide support in the form of grants to organisations working with children who may have experienced mental, physical or sensory disabilities; behavioural or psychological disorders; are living in poverty or situations of deprivation; or suffering through distress, abuse or neglect. The charity operates all year round and in addition to this, each year they hold an appeal day to raise as much money as possible.
