BGL Group Partners with NSPCC

Two-year corporate charity support - six-figure fundraising target

Immediate release: 03 April 2008

NSPCC Cruelty to children must stop. FULL STOP.Insurance intermediary the BGL Group today announced that it has appointed the NSPCC as its corporate charity partner for the next two years, with a target to raise £100,000 via a busy schedule of activities and projects.

The Group, which counts among its insurance brands BUDGET, Bennetts, comparethemarket.com and ibuyeco, plans to raise its funds via activities such as an inter-Group pub quiz, Auction of Promises, a charity trek and a major recycling drive. In addition, the six business units within the Group will compete to raise the highest funds via their own fundraising events.

The BGL Group selected the NSPCC as its chosen charity based on an employee vote, choosing from three different organisations. The NSPCC gained a landslide victory. The Group's previous charity partner was Macmillan Cancer Support, for which more than £60,000 was raised.

Peter Winslow, Chief Executive of the BGL Group, said: "We are a responsible business that never underestimates the importance of giving something back. We are committed to supporting good causes both nationally and locally. The key is to make sure that everyone within the Group embraces the choice of charity and understands its purpose. Our people are extremely generous and charitable - we have been astounded in the past at their levels of commitment to raising money. I'm looking forward to raising a record amount for the NSPCC and having lots of fun in the process."

Jon O'Neill, NSPCC Corporate Fundraising Manager, said: "I'd like to thank all at the BGL Group for choosing to support the NSPCC for the next two years. All money raised will help continue to fund our vital services for children and young people, including our Child Protection Helpline and ChildLine. With their obvious enthusiasm and dedication, staff at the BGL Group really can make a difference to vulnerable children."

In addition to its corporate charity partnership, the BGL Group supports local community projects in each of its sites, and assesses and addresses its environmental impact on an ongoing basis.
