BGL Group Hosts its Annual Awards Ball

26 employees rewarded for outstanding contribution

Immediate release: 31 October 2008

BGL Group Annual Awards BallThe stars were out as employees from the BGL Group attended their glittering Annual Awards Ball, and raised nearly £7,000 for charity.

Employees from the BGL Group's head office and IT department based in Peterborough, and its Fusion Contact Centre Services located in Coventry, Peterborough, Peterlee and Sunderland got dressed up in their most glamorous outfits and flocked to Birmingham's ICC for the exclusive black-tie event, which took place on October 18 2008.

The event is designed to reward employees for their dedication and hard-work over the past year.

Part of the event was dedicated to fundraising for the Group's corporate charity partner for the next 18 months, the NSPCC. Generous employee donations raised an unprecedented £6,830.

The theme for the event was 'Shining Stars', and those who had demonstrated they had lived the Group's core values over the past year, as nominated by their colleagues, were presented with an award by BGL Group Chief Executive, Peter Winslow. This was followed by a three course dinner and live entertainment from the Swann band specially flown in from France.

The award winners, who were chosen for developing creative ideas, creating a positive work environment, making a difference and being genuine, happy and encouraging in the workplace, included:

  • Rick Holman from Sales at Fusion, Bretton, Peterborough won the Just be... encouraging award.
  • Jackie Rapley from Sales at Fusion in Coventry scooped the Just be... happy award.
  • The Catering Team based at Pegasus House, Orton Southgate, Peterborough won the Just be… someone who makes a difference award
  • Team John Rambo from Sales Completion in Fusion, Sunderland won the Just be... united award.
  • Joanne Dunn, from Sales based at Fusion in Bretton, Peterborough walked away with the Just be… creative award.
  • Anne Haggar, from Customers Services located at Fusion, Peterlee scooped the Just be... genuine award.
  • The Outstanding Achievement award went to Andy Roberts from IT Park House in Lynchwood, Peterborough.

Jon O'Neill of the NSPCC said: "We really appreciate the BGL Group's donations as part of the Annual Awards Ball. It's fantastic to think that even while employees at BGL are being rewarded for their hard work they are still insistent on going that extra mile to raise money and achieve their target for the NSPCC. The awards are designed to recognize those that have demonstrated the Group's core values, but as far as we are concerned the whole of BGL is working as a united team to just... make a difference."

Peter Winslow, Group Chief Executive said: "The Ball, as always, has proved to be a superb event. It is hosted to say a big thank-you to all our staff for their ongoing motivation, commitment and hard-work, and to provide them with the opportunity to celebrate with their colleagues and share in the continuing success of the company. Without the dedication of our employees BGL would not have enjoyed such a consistent level of achievement, and it's very important to me that our people know how much their contribution means."
