BGL Group Donates £6000 to Christmas Trip for Special Children
Immediate release: 19 October 2009
Major Peterborough employer, the BGL Group, today announced its £6,000 support of The Rudolf Fund, a local children's charity. The Rudolf fund is devoted to taking special children on annual Christmas trips to Disneyland Paris. To date more than 300 children have benefited from the charity's work. BGL's contribution will pay for 10 children to join the trip this December.
The BGL Group is backing the charity as part of its commitment to support good causes local to its sites in Peterborough, Coventry and the North East. This is in addition to the company's fundraising target of £100,000 for its corporate charity partner, the NSPCC, by March 2010.
The Rudolf Fund plans to take 28 children and their carers to Disneyland in December. The participating children have a disability or illness, have undergone major surgery or hospital treatment, have suffered a major trauma or are a recognised carer for a disabled parent or sibling. The charity welcomes nominations of children from the Peterborough area to join future trips.
Jeremy Moll, chairman of the BGL Group's Community Team for the region, said: "The Rudolf Fund's valuable work makes an enormous difference to children who have difficult lives. We are thrilled to be able to contribute to this year's event. I'm sure it will be a trip of a lifetime for those involved. At BGL, our people are very community-focused and hope to help the Rudolf Fund beyond this financial contribution through volunteering. We are always seeking opportunities to help our local community and welcome approaches from good causes."
Christine Rusdale, Chairman of The Rudolf Fund said: "We would like to thank BGL for their generous donation. It will pay for a third of this year's trip, which is an unforgettable experience for the youngsters involved. We receive heartwarming letters from the children after the trip and the difference it makes to them is what has kept the Rudolf Fund going for more than a decade."
