BGL Annual Awards Ball raises almost £8,000 for NSPCC
Employees recognised for their outstanding contributions in the workplace
Immediate release: 04 February 2010
Almost 800 employees of the BGL Group – one of the UK's largest personal lines insurance intermediaries - enjoyed a magical night at its ninth Annual Awards Ball.
Employees from the BGL's head office and IT department based in Peterborough, and its Fusion Contact Centre Services located in Coventry, Peterborough and Sunderland, dressed up in their finery to attend the black tie event at the ICC in Birmingham.
This yearly event is designed to showcase employees who have demonstrated the Group's core values and to thank them for their dedication and hard work. It is a free event for employees who each make a £10 donation to charity as their rsvp - this money alone raised almost £8,000 for the BGL Group's charity partner, the NSPCC.
The theme for the event was 'It's a kind of magic' and revellers were greeted with aerialists, who exhibited their talents on ribbons suspended from the ceiling, and magicians, who amazed with their tricks throughout the night. They also enjoyed a champagne reception, three-course dinner and entertainment from the Swann band.
The annual awards were presented by BGL's Group Chief Executive, Peter Winslow who said: "The Awards Ball is not just about the nominees. It's about thanking each and every one of our staff for all their hard work over the last year. We've continued to deliver fantastic results in difficult times. Everyone has a role to play in our success, and I believe we have a unique team spirit at BGL, demonstrated perfectly by the superb atmosphere at the Ball – it was a great way to thank everyone for their continued commitment and enthusiasm."
The award winners, nominated by colleagues, were chosen for demonstrating the seven company values which are being creative, making a difference, being happy in their role, being genuine, encouraging, and united, as well as caring for the customer.
Winners presented with an impressive, cut glass trophy were:
- Mike Edgeley from ACM ULR at Pegasus House, Peterborough, for the Just be ... genuine Award;
- Sadie Porter from Fusion, Peterborough, for the Just be ... happy Award;
- Sam Shaw from Pegasus House, Peterborough, for the Just be ... someone who makes a difference Award;
