BGL Group Appoints New Chief Information Officer

The BGL Group today announced the appointment of its first Chief Information Officer, George Slade.

George joins the Group from Cable & Wireless, where he was Chief Information Officer and Head of Security. George brings broad experience to the Group, including technology strategy development, service operation and security gained in both start-up and mature environments.

George has a proven track record in customer engagement and commercial delivery combined with a strong interest in new and emerging technologies. George Slade is a business and technology professional with 24 years' experience in Information Technology gained in a wide range of sectors including electronics, oil exploration, IT solutions, manufacturing and telecommunications. He has also led several technical acquisitions and sales.

In his role at Cable & Wireless, George played a key role in the leadership team and was accountable for acquiring and re-engineering its technology and cost base. Prior to this he was Global IT Head for Marconi where he orchestrated and led the Global IT stream sale of Marconi to Ericsson.
