Free Summer Fun Day for BGL Group employees

Easy tiger! Four-year-old Toby Keen loved the face-painting at the fun day. Peterborough-based employer BGL Group hosted a fun Summer Fun Day for its employees and their families and friends at Wittering Grange, Wansford, near Peterborough, on Sunday (June 22).

BGL Group is one of the UK's largest privately-owned personal lines insurance intermediaries and a major employer in the city with its head offices and logistics centre based in Orton Southgate, IT Department at Lynch Wood and Fusion Contact Centre Services contact centre based in Bretton. It operates motor and home insurance brands including Budget, ibuyeco and Bennetts bike insurance as well as external partnerships with a number of other well-known and established brands such as Post Office®, Marks & Spencer and Auto Trader.

All employees were invited to bring up to five guests to the action-packed event which catered for all ages, with complimentary food and drink and much more.

More than 1,500 people supported the event where they were able to try their hand at a whole host of entertainments including clay-pigeon shooting, archery, 4 x 4 rides, crazy golf, bungee trampolines and the ever-popular fairground rides.

Hamad Kabir (11) with the balloon motorbike gift he was given for helping with the balloon workshop.As part of the BGL Group's commitment to raise funds for its chosen charity, the NSPCC, visitors were invited to make a donation in exchange for face-painting and temporary tattoos. NSPCC volunteers were on hand to talk about the work that the charity does and hand out leaflets and merchandise. Proceeds from the donations and sales of photographs taken on the day have already topped £400 for the charity.

There was also an equestrian stunt display, a circus show and children's balloon entertainment, and other attractions including a treasure hunt, giant inflatables, games and other side stalls. Children were able to participate in a range of activities such as line dancing, story-telling around the camp fire, jewellery-making, creating and colouring cowboys and cowgirls hats, and painting and personalising saddlebags and rucksacks.

Chief Executive Peter Winslow said: "We had a fantastic turnout for this much-anticipated date in the BGL Group calendar. We know that our business success is down to the people we employ. We wanted to give something back to them and their families as a thank you for all their hard work and support throughout the year. We're proud to have created an action-packed event with something for everyone."
