BGL Group Wins Top National Awards

Louise Rogers Local employees at the BGL Group have plenty of cause to celebrate this week, having scooped not just one, but two top insurance industry awards at the annual Insurance Times Awards in Birmingham.

The Orton Southgate based company has secured the following awards:

1. New Entrant of the Year – for the Group’s on-line insurance comparison site, www.comparethemarket.com, which launched earlier this year.

2. Marketing Campaign of the Year – for the ‘Van Man’ campaign, which supports the Group’s Commercial Vehicle product.

The Insurance Times Awards are hosted by Insurance Times magazine, this year in Birmingham. The awards are a key event in the insurance industry calendar, recognising excellence, achievements and innovation within the industry.

Judges of the awards were looking for companies that demonstrated real talent and achievement, combined with an innovative approach to personal lines insurance, and in the New Entrant category were specifically looking for companies that demonstrated a ‘good start’ and that it had ‘achieved its goals’. Whilst the ‘Marketing Campaign of the Year asked for entrants to demonstrate ‘creativity in a particular campaign that has resulted in a growth of business’

Group Chief Executive, Peter Winslow, commented: “I am delighted that the Group has received such prestigious awards. This industry-wide recognition reinforces my belief that the strength of our people, values, brands and our products has created an environment in which we can excel. “

BGL Group beat off fierce competition from many other companies to secure the awards, impressing a panel of judges from across the insurance industry. Business Development Director, Matt Munro for comparethemarket.com and Mark Vile, Head of Marketing for Budget Van Insurance, collected the awards at the awards dinner attended by representatives from across the insurance industry.

The BGL Group, which includes comparethemarket.com employs over 850 staff in Peterborough, which is the home of Budget’s head office as well as the Fusion contact centre, which handles calls relating to motor, commercial vehicle and home insurance for both its own brand and affinity partners, which include the Post Office®.
