BGL Group Wins National Insurance Award

Louise Rogers Local employees at the BGL Group have cause to celebrate this week, having scooped a top insurance industry accolade at the annual UK Broker Awards in London.

The Orton Southgate based company has been named ‘UK Intermediary of the Year 2006’ at the UK Broker Awards, hosted by Insurance Age in London. The awards are a key event in the insurance industry calendar, recognising excellence, achievements and innovation within the industry.

Judges of the award were looking for companies that demonstrated commitment to meeting customer needs and delivering a high quality of service across all its activities, coupled with a proven track record of success in terms of innovative and profitable expansion, in existing and new markets.

Group Chief Executive, Peter Winslow, commented: “I am delighted that the Group’s achievements have gained such prestigious recognition. Our people really are at the heart of the company’s success, and we look forward to celebrating this, alongside the acknowledgement of individual and team contributions within the Group, at our Annual Awards Ball in Birmingham next week.”

BGL Group beat off fierce competition from twenty other UK insurance intermediaries to secure the award, impressing a panel of judges from across the insurance industry. Deputy Group Chief Executive, Ian Leech, collected the award at an awards dinner attended by representatives from across the insurance industry.

Established in 1994 the awards are hosted by Insurance industry publication, Insurance Age magazine and are the only broker specific awards in the UK.

The BGL Group employs over 850 staff in Peterborough, which is the home of Budget's head office as well as the Fusion contact centre, which handles customer service and claims calls for motor, commercial vehicle and home insurance policyholders for both its own brand and affinity partners, which include the Post Office®.
