ibuyeco was originally launched in June 2007 on World Environment Day. In June 2009 ibuyeco changed its offering providing car insurance customers the opportunity to choose one of three eco charities for ibuyeco to make a £5 donation to. In addition customers are able to offset their car's annual carbon emissions. ibuyeco is currently working with the following charities: The Woodland Trust, Borneo Orangutan Survival and The Converging World. In July 2009 ibuyeco expanded its product range to include eco home insurance. Similarly customers have the opportunity to choose which of the three eco charities ibuyeco will make a donation of up to £5 to – at no extra cost to the customer, and the option to offset their home's carbon emissions.
